Recently, several residents in my community learned that beaver snares were set in a local lake and stream. Many of us are pretty upset by this but not all of us are Vegans. This is one of those instances where people share a common concern for animal welfare and yet they have various ways of expressing this concern. Vegans choose a lifestyle while others who are not vegan opt to promote animal welfare when a problem stares them in the face. I wonder if these same individuals would approach their choices as a consumer in the same way if all factory farms and slaughter houses were made of glass walls? Regardless of someone’s lifestyle, in this case, it is wonderful when opposing parties can unite for a common cause when the outcome will (hopefully) save lives.
