They Come to Us in Feathers and Fur
They come to love us.
They come to be loved by us.
They come to teach us patience.
They come to bring us joy.
They comfort us in our sorrow.
They bring us laughter and delight.
They arrive just at the right time to add magic to our lives.
They teach us what true unconditional love is.
They break our hearts when they leave us, but we wouldn’t trade the pain of parting yet having had their presence in our lives for anything in the world.
They are cats and dogs and parrots and horses.
They are pigs and cows and geese.
They are not ours to own, for they are on loan from Above, and they are ours only to love.
They come in feathers and fur.
And our lives are never the same again.
*Dedicated to my beloved furbaby, Gigi, who I very recently had to say goodbye to, and to all the dear and beautiful animals I have known and loved in my life. RIP angel, and know mom loves you always and can’t wait to meet you one day over Rainbow Bridge. :*)
