Day after day, week after week, month and year after year, I speak for the animals, and I can scarcely believe that in general the world ignores the message, not just from me but from so many others who are working to end animal cruelty.
The ads continue on TV, radio, billboards–ad after ad showing meat and dairy products, holding them up as normal and necessary to eat, blithely ignoring any dark truths behind their processing.
Many people still see veganism as “extreme”, viewing it as abnormal and impossible to comprehend.
I remember an ex-co-worker and friend who once commented about my posts on Facebook with obvious contempt, “It’s a bit much, don’t you think?”
Oh, yes, it’s a bit much, but it’s not the message that’s a bit much, it’s the truth behind it.
The true extreme, the truly impossible to comprehend, and what should most definitely be considered abnormal is the torture and killing of billions upon billions of innocent and defenseless animals, all in the name of habit, tradition and a mere taste on the tongue.
Animals like our cats and dogs and parakeets, innocent as children, helpless against the onslaught, whose voices are never heard crying out.
I invite you to take a journey to find out the truth and ask yourself if you will decide to refuse to fund an industry that has no mercy and no soul.
I invite you to watch The Ghosts in Our Machine.
THE GHOSTS IN OUR MACHINE charts the effort to bring wider attention to a topic that most of humankind strives hard to avoid.
I invite you to be one of the people who no longer seeks to avoid it.
